Kevin Coskren Done at ABC6

Kevin Coskren delivers a forecast

Kevin Coskren is done at WLNE. The Chief Meteorologist's last day was on July 31, but for some reason the station kept his bio up on their website until this week. Viewers would have noticed weekend weatherman Steve Cascione working weeknights since the beginning of August.

Cascione was the longtime chief at WLNE in the 80's, 90's and 00's before going to WPRI as morning meteorologist. He returned to WLNE in 2008.

Coskren joined ABC6 in August of 2012, after Fred Campagna and new owners Citadel had a contract dispute.  Coskren worked at Citadel sister station KLKN and requested the transfer. He left with not goodbye and no social media mention.

WLNE still has a meteorologist job posted on its career page, the posting has been active for nearly the entire summer.

New Weeknight Anchor Lineup Coming to NBC10

Patrice Wood and Gene Valicenti to anchor two weeknight shows again

Starting August 24th NBC10 will have an almost completely new weekday anchor lineup. The only shows not seeing changes right now are the noon, 6, and 11.

Here is what station insiders say the new lineup will be:

NBC10 News Sunrise: Frank Coletta, Alison Bologna

NBC10 News at Noon: Frank Coletta

NBC10 News at 5: Patrice Wood, Gene Valicenti

NBC10 News at 5:30: Dan Jaehnig, Emily Volz

NBC10 News at 6: Patrice Wood, Gene Valicenti

NBC10 News at 7:  Dan Jaehnig, Emily Volz

NBC10 News at 11: Patrice Wood, Dan Jaehnig

These are major changes for NBC10 which does not see anchor moves very often. Valicenti has been on the 5:30 since the late 1990's and spent much of that time as a solo anchor in the 2000's. Alison Bologna rejoined WJAR in 2010 to help launch the very successful 7PM news.

While some might say this is a major risk for NBC10. The stations ratings remain high and new owner Sinclair continues to invest in the station as it battles Lin/Media General Flagship WPRI.

We are Coming Back

The last post on this blog was in December of 2014. In that time we have seen many changes to the Providence-New Bedford television market. New owners, new anchors, and even new graphics. At the time we stopped posting last year we thought the market might be served well enough by NewEngland1. While that site has proven to be outstanding, and right on top of the latest news, we found some of our sources had market changes sooner. There is plenty of the time they have it way before us, but to better serve the TV news junkies of our market we decided to bring the blog back.

In time we will start a twitter page in order to give us a wider reach and we have added new station insiders who will help give us the scoop before it goes to air.

For now we have updated all of the station pages to reflect the current state of our market.
